U.S. President Donald Trump will unveil a plan Monday to fight the opioid dependency crisis that includes seeking the death sentence for drug dealerships and urging Congress to toughen sentencing laws for drug traffickers, White Home officials say.
The White House plan will also look for to cut opioid prescriptions by a third over the next three years by promoting practices that minimize overprescription of opioids in federal health-care programs, authorities informed a news briefing Sunday.
Trump will detail his proposals at an event in New Hampshire, which has actually been hit hard by the opioid epidemic.
“The Department of Justice will look for the capital punishment against drug traffickers when it’s suitable under current law,” stated Andrew Bremberg, director of Trump’s Domestic Policy Council, in the rundown detailing the strategy.
